Our volunteering projects focus on a number of areas including education (mostly English teaching), community development, environmental protection and health care. For these programs we collaborate with many local and international NGOs that we have developed partnerships with over the years. The majority of our volunteers are placed with organizations serving disadvantaged groups, such as ethnic minorities, migrant laborers, children and women.
Placement Areas:
Childrens’ Assistance: Volunteer work with these organizations would include teaching English to disadvantaged children and assisting with various community outreach projects. One of the things that makes our educational impact program stand out is that the children we would have your students teach and help in Kunming are in really disadvantaged situations being from the migrant labor community or being homeless.
Environmental Protection: China’s recent unbridled economic development has become a major stumbling block to its environmental conservation. Internship with organizations that are devoted to the environmental conservation of Yunnan can help students learn in-depth about this issue.
Community Development: Yunnan is still a poor and underdeveloped province of China. So there are many non-profit organizations that are devoted to poverty alleviation and community development in Yunnan.
Health Services: Health issues related to AIDS and rampant usage of tobacco are some of the problems that are prevalent in Yunnan. Hence, organizations, dealing with these social issues, abound in Yunnan. Interns closely working with such organizations will also have to participate in campaigns that will promote wellness and healthy living amongst the mass.
