Take all items needed immediately upon arrival in your carry-on luggage. 

Documents like:

• Passport, without it you can’t even leave the airport in your home country. So, just to be on the safe side carry the passport is secured corner of your carry-on luggage, wallet or pocket.
  
  
• Your Visa for the term of stay
  
  
• Proof of program participation, copy of your Student’s ID.
  
  
• Photo identification document like a driver's license or something like an International Student
  
  
• ID Card
  
  
• Passport-sized, color photos. Though it is possible to get these taken in the China it is best to have them with you already
  
  
• If you are seeking academic transcripts through the program don't forget your transfer approval form signed by your University registrar
  

• Prescribed medicines and toiletries in a clear plastic bag following international regulations for carrying liquids
  
  
• A wind breaker or something in case of inclement weather
  
  
• You really won’t need cash just after arriving here as we arrange pick-ups from the airport to the apartment but you should carry enough cash to last you for your needs for a day or two before you get the time to take out more money.
