·         Afternoon volunteering or language exchange sessions

·         All three meals a day

·         Apartment housing

Curriculum Highlights

Morning Classes: Our teachers hold degrees and have years of experience in teaching Chinese to foreigners.  To ensure maximum student-teacher interaction we have small class sizes, normally two to four students but with a maximum of seven students.

Afternoon Activities: In the afternoon, participant faculty members can choose to either volunteer in various non-profit organizations or take part in language exchange with local Chinese residents. Most of our volunteer placements are with organizations that are devoted to the children of disadvantaged, migrant families and poor, homeless children.

Participants can also opt for language exchange programs that Minds Abroad arranges with individuals from local schools and communities. There is simply no better way to practice one's listening and speaking skills than by having regular conversations with a native speaker.

Evening Cultural Immersions: In the evening, program participants are free to take part in various cultural activities to get an in-depth understanding of the ways of life of the local people. Minds Abroad can help suggest and arrange activities including attending performances from local ethnic musicians and dancers, visiting local museums, and going to other sites of local interest.

Weekend Travel: Faculty participants choosing the second option will travel over the weekends. They will visit fast-growing metropolises and UNESCO World Heritage Sites for a balanced perspective on a rapidly modernizing urban China , but also on rural society where the majority of the people in China still live. Excursions will include large metropolises like Shanghai and ancient towns like Dali, an ancient walled city, Shaxi, a beautiful mountain village, Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Xiao Zhongdian, a Tibetan rural area in the Himalayas .
