Credits
For all of
our classes, students can receive credit through our
Chinese language university partner
in Kunming after passing a placement exam there at the end of your
Chinese
language
study
with Minds
Abroad. Upon successful completion of the course, students will
receive a certificate signed by Minds Abroad and by the university.
Study abroad students are responsible to have credits earned
in Asia be transferred to their own universities in the United States.
To do this, we recommend the following procedure: before signing up
for our program, have the Minds Abroad courses you are planning on
taking approved by your academic advisor or other suitable official
and have that official sign your application. If your home college
does not have its own transfer credit approval form, you may download
our Advisor Approval Form. You dont need to mail this to
us, but it is good to have for your records. Recommended credits in
this catalog are based on 15 classroom hours per semester credit. A
program normally carries 12 to 15 credits spread out over five courses
of three hours each.
Upon completion of the oversea Chinese
language program, a transcript will be sent directly to
your home college or university by the
Yunnan
Nationalities University.
Academic Records:
Foreign
universities may not grade on the same scale as U. S. universities,
although officials at domestic universities are usually familiar with
foreign grading and will be able to fairly convert grades.
Transcripts for the summer semester can usually be expected to arrive
by November providing your outstanding accounts are settled. One
official transcript will be mailed free of charge to the requested
address (on application). All other transcripts must be requested in
writing to
Yunnan Nationalities University (which may request a small fee
per transcript).
It is important to keep your grades up, keep all books, syllabi, exams
and papers. In the event that something is in question, you can show
your university administrators the work you completed while abroad.
Be sure to include your name, telephone number or email address, the
date of the study program and instructions about where the transcript
should be sent.
