Volunteering while Studying
An important aspect of study abroad programs is hands-on work at the site of immersion. While our program mainly evolves and revolves around Mandarin classes in the morning, we also arrange for students to undertake volunteering activities in the community. Volunteer work constitutes of teaching English to students from disadvantaged backgrounds at the non-profit organizations in Kunming. We usually conduct Mandarin classes for 3 hours 45 minutes, every morning, from Monday to Thursday, totalling approximately to 15 hours per week. This leaves the afternoon free for you to participate in volunteer projects. Most of our students undertake volunteering for 2-3 hours in the afternoon for 3-4 days a week.
Language Exchange Sessions with a Chinese Peer
In addition to improving their Chinese skills, students who choose to participate in our language exchange program will get a personal, in-depth understanding of Chinese culture and Kunming's local customs. Most importantly, having a language partner provides students with a fantastic opportunity to make international friends and unlock a whole new world of possibilities for them. Having friends in the local community will not only hone your language skills but will also ensure that you have a fun time, while you are studying abroad.
One-On-One Classes For an Intensive Language Experience
You can also choose the number of hours you want to devote to your Mandarin classes. To supplement your classroom learning in our year-round Mandarin program, you can add extra hours of study.
